The hotel offers 100 spacious guest studios and suites in a four-story white building (no elevators) with pastel gingerbread trim. Patios or balconies furnished with four-chair dining sets and lounge chairs provide views of ocean, pool, or garden. (An ocean view is not guaranteed.) Decor and furnishings feature floral fabrics, silk flowers, white wood and rattan furniture, tile floors, white walls with green wood trim, and partial bleached-wood ceilings. Lanterns By The Sea - Casual, open-air restaurant under wood-beam ceiling adjacent to beach. Buffet and á la carte breakfasts. Lunch á la carte choices include samosas, fish cakes, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, pasta, pizza, and daily special. Á la carte dinners five nights weekly, with appetizers and main courses such as jerk pork chops, steak, herb/garlic shrimp, fish. Barbecue buffet with steel band Monday evenings. Caribbean buffet with floor show Thursday evenings.

What to expect: Set into a hillside, the compact 2.5-acre resort features gardens, waterfalls, and blossoms. An open-air, marble-floor lobby graced by orchids and next to a two-story coral-stone atrium exemplifies a breezy, tropical ambience. Amenity highlights: A 400-yard beach of pinkish coral sand lapped by the turquoise Caribbean Sea fronts the hotel. This section of the beach features thatch shades and umbrellas. A large lagoon pool meanders through gardens and past waterfalls. Between that pool and the beach lies a second, good-size pool containing a swim-up bar. Insider tip: At an adjacent sister hotel, Sand Acres Hotel, guests enjoy signing privileges at its fine-dining restaurant and access to the facilities, including a pool with a shallow children's section.

The hotel's commissary sells groceries to guests for use in their suites' kitchens and kitchenettes. Children age 3-12 enjoy their own air-conditioned clubhouse and supervised indoor/outdoor activities (surcharges). A health spa offers massage, facials, waxing, and hair and nail care.
